The Manhattan
| 40 ml | RITTENHOUSE BONDED RYE |
| 20 ml | NOILLY PRAT ROUGE |
| dash | NOILLY PRAT DRY |
| 2 dashes | MARASCHINO LIQUEUR |
| 1 dash | AROMATIC BITTERS |
| ORANGE BITTERS |
Stir over cubed ice, double strain into a chilled coupette. Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry. A non-neon variety please (although they have their place – see Corpse Reviver No.2).
I’m always asked what my all time favourite drink is. It’s a problem question – as with all favourite things, it depends on mood, setting, time of the day – but despite that, the Manhattan probably takes it. It has endless variations too and works brilliantly with most dark spirits, you’ll just have to vary your vermouth and bitters accordingly. The recipe above is the one I’m enjoying the most at the moment.
